25 Years of Elmore PR: 1992

2017 is a big year for Elmore Public Relations—we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary! For the past 25 years, our agency has been working with numerous clients to help them achieve their goals, or as we say – connecting strategy, expertise and results. We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful organizations and individuals who have helped shape the great city of Houston in more ways than one.

To commemorate this occasion, we’re taking a trip down memory lane as we look back at each of the 25 years of Elmore PR. We hope you enjoy the highlights and will share any memories you may have with us as we go along. In the beginning…

1992

Elmore PR was founded by Susan Elmore, a native Houstonian who was working for a company that developed and managed small luxury hotels, the Lancaster Group. Her then boss, Bill Sharman, became first chairman of the board for the Theater District, a concept that inspired Susan to get involved. The idea of a collaborative marketing effort involving Houston’s top performing arts organizations sounded smart and good for promoting the arts in Houston. Susan quickly became friends with Ange Finn, Executive Director of the new District. Together, Ange and Susan conceived many strategies and ideas together.

Elmore PR’s first client was the Theater District. At the time, the Theater District didn’t have a centralized way of selling tickets to their partner shows. Collaborating with the Theater District organizations, a central-reservation system was created through a marketing partnership with the Houston Chronicle. It was phone-based at the time and citizens could call in to hear about the different shows available, and then if interested, could be connected to the respective shows ticket office. Elmore PR secured promotional partnerships with KRTS 92.1 FM and the Chronicle to promote their central reservation service. As they say, the rest is history! The successful work for the Theater District opened the door to additional opportunities, positioning Elmore PR as a partner for downtown revitalization.

So why start telling our story today? In 25 weeks, we’re throwing a celebratory bash to honor our clients, past and present team members and everyone that has been with us along the way. Each week, we will reflect on a different year at Elmore PR and highlight some of the projects we were working on at the time, so stay tuned!
