Wow, I can’t believe the 35th Annual Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market is over. What an honor it was to work on this amazing project that generates millions of dollars for the Houston Ballet Foundation, its Academy and scholarship programs. For many, the Nutcracker Market is the ultimate shopping extravaganza that kicks-off the holiday season and this year did not disappoint!
Thanks to the hard work of Patsy Chapman and Daisy Perez the event was a huge success. We are still awaiting the final numbers, but they will be impressive I am sure. We at Elmore PR also had a great time working with this dynamic duo. Is it too early to start thinking about 2016?
Fun tidbits about working behind the scenes this year:
- We collected products from roughly 50 of the 300 vendors to display on tables for our morning live shots with both KPRC and KHOU.
- Speaking of morning live shots, we did two in one morning and before 8 am my colleague and I had walked four miles around the Market. NRG Center is big is a space!
- And about that space, the Nutcracker Market takes over four of the event halls at NRG Center equaling almost nine football fields.
- Which leads me to a fun story we worked on with Patricia Lopez at KTRK about tips to navigate the Market. Wouldn’t you know her number one tip is wearing comfortable shoes! The second most valuable tip, alert your credit card company that you will be doing a lot of shopping.
