COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Skylar Smith joined Elmore as a communications specialist in May 2023. Skylar’s tenacity, adaptability, and eye for the ‘big picture’ make her a well-utilized asset at Elmore. Skylar supports strategic communication, media relations, and social media efforts for clients including Houston Parks Board, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market, Perkins&Will, and LISC Houston. A team player, Skylar allows her creativity to shine through while working effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners towards strategic goals.

Prior to joining Elmore, Skylar worked with clients across the travel, financial technology, and food and beverage industries. Her media relations work garnered editorial and broadcast placements in top-tier national and regional outlets, including The New York Times and CBS News. Additionally, Skylar completed a marketing internship where she played a key role in the startup’s tradeshow presence, drafting a company-wide events strategy and program.

Skylar received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations Strategic Communication from American University, with a minor in International Business. Born and raised in Houston, Skylar has also spent time living in Washington, D.C. and Austin.  She spends her free time traveling and exploring Houston with her twin sister.
