Thermal Energy Corporation (TECO), a nonprofit organization operating the largest district energy system in North America that supplies thermal energy to buildings within the Texas Medical Center (TMC), produces an annual report each year that provides key updates and organizational information to its stakeholders and TMC customers.
Since 2022, Elmore has managed the development of TECO’s annual report that highlights the organization’s operational and financial performance, achievements, and company culture.
The opportunity for the 2025 annual report was to tell engaging stories about TECO which highlight the organization’s ongoing excellence in operations and customer service. Stories would embody the chosen theme, “Designed to Deliver.” The charge for the 2025 report was to make it more visually focused and easily digestible for the 800+ people set to receive the printed version in early 2026. Key audiences included TECO employees of all specialties and departments in addition to board members, partners, vendors, and customers within the TMC. Each of these stakeholders comprehends highly technical information to differing degrees. We were challenged to help all audience members engage with and understand the material.
Elmore researched, planned, interviewed for, and drafted articles in support of the annual report’s theme of operational excellence; coordinated with the photographer to feature compelling imagery to complement articles as needed; and managed the creative process with the graphic designer to ensure the overall style adhered to the company’s brand standards. We drafted and formatted content about TECO and its team members, customers, and vendors in a way that was easy for technical experts and laypeople to understand. Along the way, we developed a streamlined feedback system between Elmore and the client that reduced email clutter and limited version control errors.
The Elmore team successfully produced the striking 32-page, full-color report on schedule, with 800 physical copies printed and distributed by the deadline of March 2026.
